Ellie Day Social Media Internship
This project page is dedicated to showcasing my internship work done at Ellie Day Activewear from Summer 2021 to Spring 2022. Ellie Day Activewear is a local athleisure brand located in Oak Park, Illinois. Due to the brand’s independent nature, I was able to work closely under my mentor and take on great responsibility in multiple areas. Some of my responsibilities included but were not limited to; creating daily Instagram graphics, creating technical flats, creating graphics for apparel, and general social media management.
Instagram Graphics
My main responsibility during my time at Ellie Day consisted of designing daily social media graphics for Instagram. By consistently creating and uploading vibrant images, I increased the brand’s following by 200 and account reach by almost 13,000. As I produced these posts, I saw how audiences engaged with the brand’s content and gained insight on how to develop content that best suits a brand’s vision.
Developing Fashion Flats
Aside from developing social media content, my mentor stressed the importance of technical fashion skills. As an introduction to developing fashion flats, I was given the task to produce flats of garments from the brand’s seasonal collection at the time. These flats were hand-drawn and further refined and detailed in Adobe Illustrator.
Garment Graphics
A handful of graphics that were originally produced for social media posts were further printed onto garments sold by the brand for a period of time. Simplifying these designs for garments was necessary due to stitch count and legibility concerns. Additionally, redefining my designs for production gave me a greater understanding of cost-effectiveness.
